CURRENT ISSUE

Furniture & Joinery Production

Issue 387

There remains, quite understandably, a cautiously balanced mood of both challenge and opportunity within the furniture and joinery production sector. On one hand, manufacturers continue to navigate rising costs, tighter margins and an increasingly unpredictable pipeline of work. On the other, there are clear pockets of resilience and growth emerging.

From bespoke workshops to large-scale manufacturers, while the pressures may differ in scale, the themes shaping the sector remain largely consistent. Alongside operational demands, the ongoing challenge of skills shortages continues to influence how businesses invest, train and plan for the future. As ever, agility remains a decisive advantage in this market – whether it be through flexible production, reliable supply chains, strong partnerships across the supply chain, or reduced lead times.

As this issue highlights, continued investment in machinery, automation and workflow efficiency is proving key for many businesses striving to do more with less. At the same time, strong relationships remain fundamental to navigating what is still a complex, but opportunity-rich landscape.

Trusted partnerships take centre stage in this month’s profile story, too. BRIT-AD LTD began life as a garage startup, but a strategic decision to realign its supplier partnerships played a pivotal role in driving the business forward. Read more on page 22. The ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure also proved advantageous for TM Machinery, when a critical piece of equipment fell through at the eleventh hour for William Hercock Ltd. Discover how a used Striebig Compact vertical panel saw ensured the project stayed on track from page 26.

Elsewhere, Dust Control Environmental’s Aftermarket Manager, Lois Walker, details why – now more than ever – routine LEV maintenance is vital in meeting tightening regulations and protecting workplace health. TAKA-WPR outlines the premise of its unique academy for profile and panel wrapping professionals, while our cover star, OSTERMANN, showcases its striking complementary furniture edgings for Pantone’s Colour of the Year.

Looking ahead, the ability to balance efficiency with adaptability will define future success. As ever, our focus is on delivering practical solutions, actionable insight and forward-thinking ideas for our readership. Happy reading!
