Sixty years of history lies behind the name Vitap. Founded shortly after the Second World War by two Italian engineers, Pietro Tanzini and Franco Viciani, the fledgling company began by making grinding machines. In1957 the first mechanical drill with one head emerged and this was quickly followed by other models. Soon, a multi-headed drill made its debut and tentative forays began into export markets.
Today, with a solid reputation in CNC working centres, straight and contour edgebanders, nesting CNC machines and through-feed boring machines, Vitap exports its technology to over 80 countries spanning all seven continents.
Vitap’s president, Franco Viciani is rightly proud of his company’s achievements: “Research and technology, our company know-how and experience are here to be shared with all our associates in such a way as to give them concrete tools with which to fight the market, improve their sales and service, and maximise their success,” he says.
Area manager, Giacomo Bertoni, adds: “We’re always pushing forward and evolving our products. With 60 years of experience behind us, not only do we offer a fantastic range of machines that is competitively priced, we also offer stability and assurance that our machines are designed to the highest standards.”
So what does Vitap offer British manufacturers? Gerd Ney, managing director of Vitap’s newly-appointed UK distributor, affirms: “Vitap is a leading European machinery manufacturer and thanks to its knowledge and expertise in designing and building drilling machines since 1954, its current range of machines offers the small businessman unparalleled results.
“The introduction of Vitap's CNC-operated machines really is the icing on the cake. We are selling Vitap machines on a weekly basis and it is fast becoming one of our major product lines. Our customers like the fact that a Vitap is a simple machine to use and, whilst it comes in at a fraction of the price when compared with many CNC machines, it can achieve the same, if not better results than a more expensive model.
“We originally worked with Vitap 20 years ago,” continues Gerd. “We recently revisited its range and soon realised that Vitap was creating machines that were incomparable with anything else on the market. Their build quality, overall efficiency and affordability certainly got our attention.”
Through Ney Ltd, a wide range of Vitap machines will be available, starting with entry level machines like the 27T semi-automatic boring machine and concluding with the advanced N2 and N3 CNC nesting machines.
The Vitap Eclipse, a semi-automatic edgebander for small and large panels, is ideal for smaller furniture manufacturers and fits perfectly both with Ney’s aim to champion the cause of the smaller manufacturer and with other edgebanders currently offered by Ney Ltd.
Also supplementing the Ney portfolio will be machines like the Bridge. Launched two years ago, it adds a new option in CNC point-to-point boring to Ney’s already expansive range. Other machines like the recently launched
Point 3 CNC high-speed point-to-point boring machine, equipped with a new loading and unloading system, show just how accessible the latest technology is through Ney Ltd.
Gerd Ney adds: “Having over 60 years of experience in the market has helped Vitap develop its designs and fine tune its product line. Vitap has certainly impressed us and we know it will impress others too.”
