Maton Rose Interiors selects HOMAG SAWTEQ B-130 to boost efficiency

Wellingborough-based contract furnishing specialist, Maton Rose Interiors Limited, has a team of dedicated craftsmen who take great pride in all the work they produce. Established in 2011, the company employs 20 people in its modern production facilities.

“We offer an end-to-end service from concept to design, to planning, sourcing, manufacture, delivery and beyond,” claims Chris Ross, Workshop Manager at Maton Rose Interiors. He continues, “Last year we were experiencing an increasing amount of downtime with our old saw. To compound the problem, spare parts were becoming extremely difficult to source.

“The level of disruption to manufacturing was unacceptable, consequently the decision was made to invest in a new beam saw. For some time, we have admired the HOMAG brand of woodworking machinery and so we contacted them to discuss our requirement.

“From the outset, HOMAG’s professional approach and understanding were clear to see. They asked all the right questions before recommending the best model for our needs, the SAWTEQ B-130 beam saw.”

Seeing is believing

“HOMAG arranged for three of our team to visit a company who had been running a B-130 saw in its facility. Seeing the saw in action in a working environment and being able to talk directly with the operators of the saw, was really insightful.

“We were also very impressed with the build quality of the saw and the easy, intuitive operation of the machine. Equally important was the availability of the B-130; HOMAG had a machine in stock to the specification we wanted so we didn’t have a long waiting time before the saw could be delivered and installed.

“The HOMAG installation engineer, John, was very helpful and the training he gave our staff on site was excellent. The SAWTEQ B-130 is a great addition to our plant list, consistently delivering accurate cuts. It is easy to operate and the addition of the label printer means all our parts are labelled for ongoing production.”

State-of-the-art control system

The SAWTEQ B-130 utilises HOMAG’s CADmatic 5 high performance saw control system. With a wide range of functions, CADmatic 5 is an intuitive operating concept with clear administrative functions. What’s more, it is open for communication with other machines and software solutions, thus enabling manufacturing cells to be created.

Another feature available on the B-130 is HOMAG’s innovative operator assistance system, intelliGuide. The Classic version features an LED strip at the cutting line which guides the operator by means of light signals.

Using the coloured LED elements, machine operators can immediately see if a part has been fully processed, needs to be cut again or can be disposed of as waste. Based on which LEDs are lit up, the operator can also determine whether the workpiece being processed meets the required specifications.

The intelliGuide system provides completely intuitive machine operation that verifiably leads to significantly shorter throughput times, resulting in error-free increased output. The operator and saw work in tandem and no longer slow each other down.

Time-saving and reduced wastage

Chris Ross concludes, “The SAWTEQ B-130 has boosted the efficiency of our manufacturing operation. It saves us time and has reduced wastage due to the skewed cutting facility.

“This is the first HOMAG machine we have invested in, and no doubt it won’t be the last. I would recommend the B-130 saw to any manufacturer looking for a robust, reliable beam saw with a small footprint.”
