Family-run window specialist, Eco Sash & Case, has increased productivity, improved consistency, and unlocked new growth opportunities following the installation of a CENTATEQ P-110 CNC, supplied and supported by HOMAG’s Scottish sales partner, AWMS.
Based in Edinburgh, Eco Sash & Case is known for its expert repair, restoration and manufacture of traditional timber sash and casement windows. Working across heritage and listed properties throughout Scotland, craftsmanship has always been at the heart of the business.
But as demand increased and skilled labour became harder to source, the company recognised that modern technology would be key to maintaining standards while scaling efficiently. “We were having problems recruiting, basically because of the skills shortage,” explains Jordan Davidson, Director at Eco Sash & Case. “We’ve always been traditional, and we still are on the restoration side, but we realised a CNC could really help us increase productivity when manufacturing new windows.”
Why HOMAG?
Eco Sash & Case began researching CNC options and quickly noticed a pattern. “We saw that a lot of the bigger companies were buying HOMAG machines and enjoying the benefits of CNC technology,” says Jordan. “Our tooling supplier also sent us a case study about a CENTATEQ P-110 install, and we wanted to emulate that success.” After comparing other brands, a visit to HOMAG’s Castle Donington showroom sealed the decision. “Once we saw the P-110 for ourselves, our minds were made up. The build quality and capability really stood out.”
Learning the ropes
As their first CNC, the P-110 represented a big step forward for the team. “There’s definitely a learning curve,” Jordan admits, “but as promised, we were given sufficient training to get us going.”
Ongoing support from AWMS made the transition even smoother. “Rob kept in touch long after the training finished to make sure we were getting on OK. That extra support was really appreciated, especially while we were fine-tuning the machine to suit our product range.”
More output, less pressure
The impact has been significant. “We’re seeing far more efficiency and productivity,” says Jordan. “Our output has increased substantially without the need to overextend ourselves.”
By automating repetitive and precision-heavy processes, the P-110 has freed up skilled craftsmen to focus on higher-value work, while delivering consistent accuracy across every component.
“It’s really opened our eyes to what’s possible with this kind of technology. Our business is growing in a way that wouldn’t have been possible before.”
A partnership for the future
For Eco Sash & Case, the experience has cemented confidence in both the machine and the people behind it. “HOMAG and AWMS are great to deal with, really friendly and knowledgeable. We’re delighted with the investment and we’ve already got our eye on another HOMAG machine. They are clearly first-class.” For more information or a demonstration of HOMAG’s machinery and software, contact HOMAG UK on 01332 856500, option 4 for the sales department, or email [email protected].
