Warwick Edging offers more choice and service

Warwick Edging was established over 20 years ago and has grown every year since distributing edgebanding materials to manufacturers across the UK. Today, the company is widely recognised as a reliable and capable business partner supplying  a wide range of products and services with a healthy, pro-active stance regarding customer service.

Owner Graham Woolley, who formed the company in 1995, has over 40 years’ experience in edgebanding, edgebanding adhesives, the edging process and the wider furniture industry. He has successfully steered the business to its current level as one of the UK’s largest independent edgebanding specialists with a turnover of £2.5m on edgebanding and related adhesives last year.

With Warwick Edging’s continued growth, Graham confirms that, as a business, it still stays close to its roots as a family firm, and the company strongly believes that customer service being vitally important, as is flexibility and the ability to react positively to customer needs.

Over the last 20 years, Warwick Edging has created close working relationships with suppliers of PVC, ABS, veneer, melamine and 3D acrylic edging materials which allows the company to source the best products and matches at competitive prices to ensure that its customers have a positive experience. Once Warwick Edging commits to sourcing a product, it will always repeat from this supplier to ensure continuity and quality.

On the occasion that it does not have a particular product on UK stocks, Warwick is able to source it from Europe and deliver to customers within 3-5 working days – quicker if required.

In 2014, Warwick Edging relocated to a new facility on the Wedgnock Industrial Estate in Warwick, a move which saw a doubling of the warehouse capacity to 12,500ft², and this will allow for the planned growth and future investment. Over the last 18-24 months, Warwick Edging has steadily increased its stocks and décors to enable the company to be in a position to provide UK stocked matches to all major board décors.

The company has also invested in a new slitting machine, which arrived in September this year. This will allow the company to keep up with the increased volume of bespoke width demands and the trend of chunky furniture in all thicknesses of edging from its UK stocks – enabling quick lead times.

The latest addition to the Warwick Edging stock range is true co-extruded laser/hot air edging providing the outstanding quality finish expected from this technology. The company can also offer post-extrusion laser/hot air edging, allowing for any stock material to be post-coated.

Graham also points out that the company follows all major board manufactures very closely to ensure it has good matches in all thickness – and now widths – as this is seen as a vital part of Warwick’s service. The company also stocks several grades of hot melt adhesives allowing it to provide suitable options for all edgebanding applications.

In terms of equipment, Warwick Edging currently supplies Festool’s portable hot melt and PU edgebanding machines. Festool’s impressive Conturo KA65 portable edgebander is a 1200W machine and can handle edge heights between 18-65mm and thicknesses of 0.5-3mm. The KA65 features glue tablets so only what is needed is heated up. It can readily cope with small batches, straight edges, free-form elements and gluing inclined edges, angle from 0-47°. Naturally, Warwick Edging offers is a good range of Festool accessories for the KA65 to create the perfect finished edge, plus a really good vaccuum pump and clamping unit. Dubbed the future of clamping, the Festool’s system allows workpieces to be turned up to 360° and swivelled up to 90°. Sensitive surfaces can be clamped without damaging them and workpieces up to 30 kg per clamping unit are clamped firmly and safely.

Furthermore, Warwick Edging recommends Festool’s MFK700 edge router as an ideal edge trimmer. It allows for optimum working results with precise, fine adjustment. Its large support base ensures safe guidance yet there is still a good view of the workpiece.

According to Warwick Edging, the Festool product lune-up brings hand-held edgebanding right up to date with reliable and well thought out products.

Some new consumables have recently been added to the Warwick Edging’s offer in recent months such as touch-up waxes and pens, adhesives screw hole covers and a high quality panel wipe for use on- and off-line.

Warwick Edging has also teamed up with Syskor in 2015 adding UK stocks of aluminium sliding wardrobe profiles and the hardware required for customers to create sliding wardrobes featuring a range of wire-works and lighting to give a high quality, professional finish.

Ordering and delivery is a simple process with Warwick Edging, by email on the company’s informative and easy-to-use website or via the telephone. Orders which are placed before 4pm are dispatched that day, but the company can offer a same day delivery if this is required. Standard delivery is normally 2-3 days.

Clearly, Warwick Edging is a business which cares deeply about how it conducts itself and what products and services it offers its customers. As Graham says: “We pride ourselves in listening to our customers and knowing the marketplace – we are able to meet 99% of customer requests from stock and our strong relationships with our suppliers allow us to meet any other requests promptly and efficiently.”
