Tooltec is a premier supplier of a wide range of tooling and machinery for the woodworking, furniture and joinery industries. It remains a family-owned business since the company started in 1981.
High Wycombe-based Tooltec was established in 1981 to provide UK furniture, joinery and timber firms with high quality tooling whilst abiding by a straighfoward dictat – customer service, independence, forward-thinking and listening to clients.
Company founder David J Evans’ philosophies still inform the Tooltec strategy to this day – he prescribed that the company should ensure high quality, the best service, independence and the ability to change and transform thinking to adapt to new and advanced machining methods to suit clients’ ever-evolving production requirements.
As maxims go – that’s a pretty good starting point, the sentiment of which is something that many successful businesses would heartily agree with.
Tooltec’s current managing director is David M Evans and the company remains based in High Wycombe. The company today boasts an impressive array of products and services – from CNC tooling and milling tooling to feed rollers, vacuum pods and knives
“Our extensive range of cutting tooling for woodworking covers all aspects of CNC-based machines such as Biesse, Homag, Masterwood, SCM, Giben and Altendorf, to the traditional, manual-feed machinery such as Wadkin, Whitehill, Sedgwick, Dominion and Vertongen,” explains David.
Tooltec’s relationship with leading machinery manufacturer Biesse has recently been endorsed with the Buckinghamshire firm becoming the official dealer of Biesse machines for the south and south-west of England.
This elevated status means that Tooltec is the recognised southern reference point for Biesse – one of the world’s premier machinery woodworking, panel and furniture production machinery manufacturers.
In terms of tooling, the company has a reputation for breadth of stock, good service and advanced solutions.
Tooltec’s stocks a wide range of standard and custom profile tools to meet the demands of the most technically advanced wood machining processes. Its tools are compatible with all major makes and brands such as Biesse, Homag, SCM and Masterwood and feature high quality tools designed according to the product and material being machined.
The company has a wide range of CNC tooling and routers, including: replacement tip decorative router cutters; standard radius and cove insert router bits; profile insert router cutters; frontal inserter cutters; universal body router cutters with insert and supporting plates; panel-raising insert cutters; insert sets for chamfering and rounding; profile tipped router cutters and solid carbide spiral router cutters; finishing type and hogger style tools; V-grooving; glue jointing cutters; tool sets for door production; and corrugated knife cutters.
For timber milling, Tooltec says it is the largest stockholder of finished materials: from serrated steel to planer blades in both HSS and carbide, its new cutting machine allows same day cutting and despatch for special sizes with what it describes as unparelleled quality.
CentroLock, Tersa, VariPlan and all standard cutting knives are available from stock in both HSS and carbide for same day shipping.
The company has a range of sizes of the following: carbide serrated knives; diamond, Borazon and Ruby wheels; aluminium oxide grinding wheels; fine knives; planer blades in serrated steel; and jointing stones. These items are all from stock ready for next day delivery.
The company also stocks an extensive range of Powerlock serrated cutter heads, hydro cutter heads and hydro shafts. All knives are available in balanced and matched pairs.
Tooltec adds that all its serrated back knives and centrolock knives are balanced to the recommended tolerance by Weinig Germany. It is essential all knives conform to this tolerance to avoid machine failure and the longevity of tool life.
Tooltec also offers CNC Shark machine and accessories, as well as complementary products for full size machines such as vacuum pods and feed rollers.
