Complete construction partner, Stepnell, is building on its rich heritage in high-quality construction and specialist joinery with a new bespoke joinery business.

Based in Rugby, and operating nationwide, Lawford Bespoke Joinery will build upon Stepnell’s many decades of industry experience. The business will provide end-to-end joinery services, from design consultation through to installation, tailored to a diverse range of sectors, including commercial, residential, heritage, and hospitality.

Its dedicated team of eight highly skilled joiners and craftsmen are well-equipped to deliver exceptional, made-to-measure joinery projects — ranging from intricate heritage restorations to sleek, modern interiors.

Services will also include the creation of bespoke furniture, as well as the manufacture of integrated plumbing systems (IPS) and acoustic panels.

“Joinery has been integral to Stepnell’s construction capabilities for more than 155 years,” says Lee Grant, joinery manager and a veteran of over 40 years at Stepnell.

“Retaining fundamental expertise in craftsmanship remains vital to providing sustainable construction works. This new venture will allow us to grow and flourish as an independent business. We are passionate about creating bespoke, high-quality joinery solutions that elevate any project.

“The business will continue to support Stepnell’s projects while expanding its reach wider by building its own client base,” Lee continues. “The joinery team has already supported Stepnell on various projects, more recently including the reception area at Oakley Grange Care Home in Warwick, boarding premises at Eton College and outdoor seating at Greenstone Primary School in Coalville.”

The creation of Lawford Bespoke Joinery thus marks a wider strategic shift at Stepnell, with a view to expanding its specialist capabilities and becoming even more agile in responding to client needs.

“Lawford Bespoke Joinery creates new possibilities for our joinery team to expand externally, and support a broader range of clients while continuing to deliver the highest standards of craftsmanship,” affirms Tom Wakeford, managing director at Stepnell.

“The decision to establish Lawford Bespoke Joinery as a standalone business aligns with Stepnell’s long-term strategy to enhance its specialist services, as has also been the case with energy management business Step Energy. By separating these specialist services, we become more agile and responsive to customer need, furthering our position as a trusted complete construction partner – supporting both private and public sectors.”

With a growing pipeline of work, and a flair for quality, detail, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time, Lawford Bespoke Joinery is the perfect partner for clients seeking high-quality joinery solutions.
