Dustraction – pioneers in wood-waste extraction

Dustraction’s range of dust and air pollution hardware, services and equipment has been deployed in the service of almost all the production machinery brands on display at this year’s W12 exhibition.

Dustraction is one of Britain’s pioneers in wood-waste extraction with a track record going back more than half a century. In this time the company has counted among its customers, timber and board specialists like Jeld-Wen and Formica and specialist manufacturers such as Jaguar Cars and Rolls-Royce.

At its factory at Oadby on the Leicester ring, Dustraction has a manufacturing floor area of more than 1000m² and some of the best and most up-to-date computer-controlled sheet metal working machinery in the business.

All extraction systems are manufactured in-house, including ruggedly constructed paddle blade varieties for big waste volumes – at SAM Mouldings in Northern Ireland these machines are able to extract 2.5t of MDF dust per hour – and a wide range of other fan types for wood and panel waste in wide-ranging load capacities.
High volume cyclones are also now manufactured in-house under the Dustrax banner in order says Dustraction’s MD, Steve Matuska, to maintain quality and efficiency standards, and maintain ready availability.

Shop floor technology at Dustraction includes computer-operated plasma profiling and a CNC press brake, both of which are backed up by an ongoing programme of inward investment. It is this inward investment, combined with unparalleled manpower experience that Steve believes, keeps Dustraction at the cutting edge of wood and panel waste extraction.

The ducting bearing the Dustraction label is made from light gauge galvanised sheet steel, in stainless and, in Cromweld, heavy gauge mild steel, which is also used in cyclone manufacture. Fabrication is all produced in-house, as is a range of finishing systems including sanding benches and spray booths. All are built to full COSHH standards and Dustraction also offers a COSHH LEV testing service to ensure full compliance with Health and Safety Executive standards.

Steve says: “The wealth of knowledge and design experience that Dustraction has accumulated over its 50-plus years servicing Britain’s wood and panel processing industry really cannot be beaten. No other company in wood-waste extraction comes close to the levels of experience that drives our drawing office and extraction equipment fabrication team – and, of course, our Dustrax brand label.”
