For Dalso, the creation of personalised automation is a mission, in which passion, experience, knowledge and creative ability are combined to transform the idea of movement into a real system capable of functioning even without human supervision.
Dalso was born, and it continues to grow and develop in Schio, in the province of Vicenza, in the heart of one of the most important industrial districts in Veneto, Italy. An area that has been able to renew itself and find new opportunities in an increasingly challenging and competitive market, an area where Dalso is dedicated to the development of its resources on a daily basis, and provides technological and technical solutions to its customers.
Thus, after more than thirty years, Dalso has exceeded the target of €10m of automation and systems produced in 2019, with over thirty collaborators and a foreign percentage that reaches two thirds of the total. Since the quality/price ratio is of utmost importance, quality dictated by the ISO 9001 standards is certified by a paper document attached to the lean production system.
The types of Dalso automation are now applied in many sectors, from doors and windows to blockboard panels, from parquet to solid wood furnishings.
There have been many recent developments, in particular a complete automation for the parquet production line. It concerns the production of two/three-layer flexible parquet; the automation that concerns the handling of semi-finished products in each production phase is particular, which is articulated from the processing of multi-blades and gluing to the finishing, profiling and painting.
The process consists of the initial introduction of raw wooden strips, which are aligned, picked up by a manipulator and placed on cages used for drying, then they are cut into thin layers and finally advanced to the bonding phase, where they will form the so-called parquet.
Particular attention has been given to the introduction of manipulators that guarantee continuous activity, avoiding possible blockages of the line, thus achieving very high productivity in the shortest possible time.
Each phase is involved in the automatic process: drying, cutting and finishing. The layers are stacked in groups one above the other, and are placed on top of an unloading pallet, from where the forklift can pick up all the finished and processed products.
The window and door sector has also recently been revolutionised by new Dalso automation systems. The products collected in a row and placed one above the other are picked up one by one via a manipulator, through a particular phase-shift mechanism.
The added value is that each individual element is taken in such a way that the possibility of adhesion between two elements does not occur, i.e. the so-called suction effect: the controlled movement of the single product facilitates the detachment of the subsequently underlying element, thus avoiding problems that not even the operator would be able to manage.
The application of an innovative centering station is quite remarkable, in which the product, advancing on the roller conveyor, positions itself in perfect alignment with the manipulator in such a way that the latter picks up the element in exactly the same position that it will then pick up the subsequent pieces. Once the item has been removed, it is positioned on a coating station, where each finished element is protected by a layer of paper from the next element so that there is no damage to the product.
Thus, a single machine performs the paper cutting and positioning on each finished element. As a result, the automation makes it possible to work by minimising the help of operators, reducing the impact of the labour cost of the final product to almost zero.
A real and complete vision of its work and of the great development that Dalso continues to have over time, minimising the help of operators and building real systems as part of the Industry 4.0 philosophy.
