Zero ThinPly by Koskisen and Plantics was awarded a ‘High Product Quality’ award at this year’s Interzum in Cologne. The jury recognises the outstanding design achievements of this fully bio-based thin plywood, which excels in form, function, and sustainability.
Zero ThinPly, launched by Koskisen, is entirely made from bio-based materials. It combines high-quality Finnish birch veneer with a completely non-toxic, plant-based adhesive. The adhesive has been developed in collaboration with Plantics, meeting the product requirements for Koskisen.
Fully bio-based
Zero ThinPly contains no added formaldehyde, phenolic compounds, or urea. Despite being entirely plant-based, the adhesive delivers strength comparable to that of traditional adhesives.
This meets customers’ growing demand for a broader range of fully bio-based material options. The bio-bonded thin plywood is intended for indoor use, for example in laser-cut design products such as lamps, toys, jewelry, and various interior decoration items. It is particularly well-suited for indoor air-critical applications, where strict formaldehyde emission limits apply.
Fossil-free wood products
“The award is a great recognition of our systematic work in developing bio-based and completely fossil-free wood products. We will continue our efforts to increase the use of sustainable raw materials,” says Tom-Peter Helenius, Director, Panel Industry for Koskisen.
Sustainable solutions
Wridzer Bakker, CEO of Plantics, adds: “We are proud that this this joint project was recognized by the Interzum expert jury. We look forward to further combining our expertise and resources to bring new technologies to market and deliver competitive and sustainable solutions.”
