Unilin Panels has announced that its melamine-faced Fibralux Biobased board has been awarded one of the most highly respected accolades in international design, winning a prestigious Red Dot Award in the Product Design 2025 category. This prize is a testament to the product’s excellence, both in terms of its design and its environmental footprint.
The melamine-faced Fibralux Biobased is a standout product in the world of decorative panels. Launched in 2023, with the melamine-faced version being released last year, this MDF panel is the first to combine a 100% recovered wood core with Evertree bio-based resin, made from locally produced sunflowers and rapeseed. This innovative new combination was designed to combine functionality, sustainability and aesthetic appeal with no compromise on any front.
Designed to meet the requirements of architects and interior designers alike, the melamine-faced Fibralux Biobased is prized for its dimensional stability, smooth ready-to-use surface and perfect compatibility with existing Master Oak decors. The panel combines technical sophistication and style, whilst reducing the CO₂ emissions involved in resin manufacture by 80%.
The other major advantage is that it contains no added formaldehyde and its emissions are comparable with those of natural wood - ten times lower than the E1 standard. This is a major innovation in promoting healthier domestic and workplace interiors.
