Double miter cuts are a common requirement in modern woodworking and interior construction. However, they are often considered particularly demanding because several geometric factors must be considered in addition to the cutting angle itself. Length compensation, double miter geometry, and the compensation of the saw blade thickness all play a critical role in achieving precise results. This is exactly where MARTIN’s RADIOCOMPENS system comes into play: it automatically performs all necessary calculations and ensures maximum precision and efficiency throughout the cutting process.
The concept behind the system is both simple and compelling: double miter cuts should be just as easy, fast, and precise to perform as a standard 90° cut. Once the desired angle has been set on the parallelogram crosscut table, the RADIOCOMPENS system takes care of everything else automatically.
First, the selected angle is transmitted wirelessly to the machine control system. The control unit then calculates the resulting length deviation that occurs due to the geometry of the angled cut.
The calculated compensation value is subsequently transmitted via radio signal to the digital displays of the length stop.
For the operator, this means that all relevant measurements are automatically corrected and displayed, eliminating the need for manual calculations or adjustments.
Another important feature is the automatic compensation of the saw blade thickness. In daily workshop operations, different saw blades are often used, each with its own kerf width. Whether the operator works with a blade thickness of 2.8 mm or 5.4 mm, the RADIOCOMPENS system automatically factors this into the calculation. As a result, the displayed measurement always remains accurate, ensuring a perfectly fitting cut every time.
The system also offers a practical additional function: depending on the application, it may be necessary to reference the measurement from the material’s top surface rather than from the table level. This requirement can easily be accommodated. The operator simply enters the relevant information into the machine control, and the display immediately shows the corrected measurements accordingly.
The result is a significantly simplified workflow that minimises potential sources of error while increasing productivity. Operators can focus entirely on the cutting process, while the RADIOCOMPENS system performs all complex geometric calculations in the background.
Through this intelligent automation, the precision of double miter cuts reaches a new level – efficient, reliable, and consistently accurate.
