Masterwood GB has been the official supplier of Masterwood CNC machines the width and breadth of the UK and Ireland since 2009, covering sales, installations, training, spares and servicing. Between them, Directors Dave Kennard (sales director) and Chris Alexander (technical director) have almost 60 years of experience with Masterwood machines.
In 2019, Masterwood opened its first showroom in the UK, giving customers the opportunity to have one-on-one specialised demonstrations on both the machines and software. Today, Masterwood GB’s team of experienced technicians cover the length and breadth of the UK, assisting with installations, servicing, repairs and breakdowns.
A comprehensive portfolio
Masterwood GB’s array of CNC machines is impressively diverse, including:
• Flatbed Nesting machines – Available in three-, four- and five-axis, and bed sizes ranging from 2500 x 1300mm to 7500 x 2195mm, plus special sizes if required.
• Pod and rail machines – The most versatile CNC option – available in three-, four- and five-axis, bed lengths from 3000 to 6400mm.
• Specialist product CNC machines, such as the 4Win for windows, Doorline and Project door, and Teknoline for frames and jambs, cater for higher production and dedicated manufacturers. These can be tailor-built with handling equipment to suit a customer’s needs.
• The partnership with KDT machinery in 2018 allowed Masterwood GB to offer a wider range of machines, including the TF 600 series of highspeed drilling/routering machines.
These are available in configurations suitable for small-scale production, to automated high-level production.
Comprehensive installation, training and aftercare services
Of course, machines are built to a high standard using proven designs and parts from leading suppliers. In order to cut down on the lead times of standard machines, Masterwood GB has stock machines on order and in production to allow for quick deliveries. Built-to-order machines have a lead time of as little as 90 days in most cases.
Installation and training are always included in the cost of the machines. Masterwood GB sells a full package, not just a machine, and prides itself on its aftersales care for all customers with Masterwood machines, both new and second hand.
The company understands that purchasing a CNC is one of the biggest investments most businesses will make, so it takes time and care to ensure that the machines, software and overall package are right for the customers’ needs and production.
The benefits of investing in CNC technology
Adding a first CNC is always a big decision. It’s a big investment, both in time and money, plus the initial learning curve of going from traditional methods to programming and machining. However, the benefits of being able to repeat programs at a moment’s notice, produce components in a fraction of the time, and optimise programs to machine multiple components in one machining cycle, ultimately save time and money.
To provide an example of production differences: to produce a typical staircase using traditional methods could take a single joiner up to a week, including measuring and drawing.
With the help of specialist stair software, even a complex winder staircase can be drawn, machined and assembled in less than a day.
