Established in 1897 as an Austrian family company, Kronospan has grown into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wood-based panels. Following the fall of the Iron Curtain in the 1980s, Kronospan seized the opportunity to expand into the emerging markets of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. Today, its global footprint is matched by strong local roots, especially in the UK.
Kronospan has been operating in the UK since the 1970s from its flagship site in Chirk, North Wales. What began with particleboard and melamine facing lines has since evolved into a comprehensive manufacturing hub. The site now produces MDF, tongue-and-groove (T&G) flooring for the building trade, laminate flooring, and decorative worktops.

As Kronospan continues to grow, it has also strengthened its team. Farren Murphy joined as Commercial Director earlier this year, bringing deep expertise in the flooring sector. Across the country, the company’s regional presence is supported by its fantastic sales team, ensuring customers receive expert support wherever they’re based.
