ATA Engineering Processes Limited was established in 1963 by Robert and Madeline Amos, primarily to service and supply their grinding machine company, ATA Grinding, and the aerospace industry. Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, the company has established itself as a leading supplier of aerospace tooling.
Under the control of managing director Terry Stafford, who served his apprenticeship at Rolls Royce in Derby, ATA Processes became the main accessories supplier to ATA Grinding and their customers. Upon the passing of its founder Robert Amos in 2012, the company carried on trading under the stewardship of Mark Whitbread. Mark has many years’ experience in tooling, cutters and CNC technology, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the Aerospace industry.
In 2021, the current directors Mark Whitbread and Graham Warren completed a management buyout to form the present company – ATA Engineering Products Ltd – to concentrate on the core products that have been supplied by the company for many years. The company uses the same expert know-how when supplying the woodwork, signage and general industrial industry with specialist HSS, carbide-tipped and solid carbide router cutters to suit a wide variety of applications.
ATA Engineering Products is the sole distributor for the UK for the Boeing Aircraft Company technically-advanced family of lubricants. Boelube, significantly reduces friction and heat, especially under extreme pressure conditions, which extends tool life and improves quality.
ATA are the UK market partners for LMT Onsrud, Crown Norge, Titman Tools and Castle Pocket Routers.
Craig Tools International joined the family of companies in 2022 with the retirement of its owner Sid Atkins. The acquisition of this bespoke aircraft service and tooling supplier has established ATA as a market force in sourcing and supplying all the major airlines and aircraft manufacturing.
ATA has built a reputation on commitment and innovation which has helped it expand over the years into other challenging areas such as the Aerospace, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Furniture and Retail industries.
