A classic from Weinig: the Powermat 700 Classic

Weinig, the technology leader in standard machines for planing and profiling, has created a new conventional moulder with its Powermat 700 Classic.

Configured as Weinig UK’s entry-level moulder, the Powermat 700 Classic has been developed as a reliable, affordable moulder specifically for small to medium sized business, and with a starting price of just £40,000, it is well priced to fit small business budgets.

Based on Weinig’s highly successful Powermat 700, which provides the highest standards for four-sided processing with the most user-friendly moulder on the market, the Powermat 700 Classic offers the same German engineering, solid build quality and ease of use as the original moulder.

Weinig’s extensive manufacturing experience has selected the tailored range of key options offered on the Classic, ensuring reliable day-to-day production of window components, stair components, mouldings and profiles.

The Classic has different configurations for joinery or milling operations, and is equipped with 40mm spindles, an optional working width up to 260mm, and the Memory Plus control system making dimensional or profile changes possible from previously stored settings for perfect ad hoc repetition of products.

To date, 12 Powermat 700 Classic machines of five-head and six-head configuration have been recently installed across the UK, and Chilworth Timber Company in Oxfordshire has two of them.

Rob Wilbore of Chilworth Timber says: “As a young dynamic business, we understand that technology plays an essential role in improving quality and productivity. It has always been a key strategy of ours to update our machinery on an ongoing basis. We have many years’ experience of Weinig machinery and it was a natural choice for us to continue our relationship.

“We chose the Powermat 700 Classic for its compactness and ability to produce a finished product of equal standing to some of the bigger more expensive machines on the market. An added advantage is the ability to automate the Powermat 700 Classic, saving us time on set-up and the machining of timber.”

With the attention to detail and ease of use Weinig customers expect such as ergonomic considerations, ease of set-up and easy tool accessibility, the Powermat 700 Classic also features a quick extraction hose disconnect solution, spindle speeds of 15% higher than conventional moulders at 7000rpm for more production without compromising surface quality, energy efficient IE3 motors, and optimised dust and chip extraction system.

The same Powermat 700 enclosure houses the Powermat 700 Classic’s high-quality technology, and the setting features are the same across the full range of Weinig’s Powermat moulders, making their operation very simple.

The Powermat 700 Classic also comes with Weinig’s Comfort Set, giving the operator the ability to make a high number of accurate adjustments spanner-free, providing improved ease of operation and very short set-up times with great flexibility.

Every machine from Weinig comes with reliability, quality assurance, after-sales customer support as standard. The company also offers training opportunities at the brand new Weinig Expo UK - Innovation Centre for Manufacturing Excellence in Abingdon.
