Wren has announced a £35 million investment in its transport operations as customer demand continues to grow, with plans to expand and modernise its delivery fleet while accelerating progress towards its Net Zero objectives.

As part of the investment, the kitchen and furniture manufacturer is introducing new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) at its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Barton-upon-Humber. The electric trucks will be deployed on some of the company's most demanding inbound logistics routes, helping to reduce emissions across its supply chain while maintaining service levels.

The move forms part of Wren's broader sustainability strategy, which aims to decarbonise operations from manufacturing through to final delivery.

The latest fleet investment follows the installation of what the company describes as the UK's largest single-roof solar array at its manufacturing complex. Once fully operational, the solar installation is expected to generate more than 35% of the site's energy requirements.

Alongside the introduction of electric vehicles, Wren is also upgrading its wider transport fleet with the latest Euro 6 standard, biofuel-compatible vehicles, further reducing the environmental impact of its logistics operations.

Lee Holmes, Transport and Logistics Director at Wren, said: "The arrival of our first Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks is a landmark moment in our sustainability journey. We are renewing and expanding our fleet to help meet the demands of our growing business, while continuing our investment to reduce our environmental impact."

The investment reflects Wren's commitment to supporting future growth while balancing operational efficiency with environmental responsibility, as the company continues to explore opportunities to reduce carbon emissions throughout its business.
