Wolf Components co-founder appointed as Manufacturing Guild Mark chairman

Anthony Joyce, director and co-founder of Wolf Components, has been appointed chairman of the Manufacturing Guild Mark, one of the UK furnishing industry’s most respected marks of excellence.

Wolf Components is a family-owned business based in South Yorkshire and a leading supplier of pocket springs to the UK bed industry. Founded in 2017 by Anthony Joyce alongside Stephen Baul and Rob Shuttleworth, the company has grown rapidly and now employs around 70 people across two manufacturing sites in Rotherham.

Awarded by The Furniture Makers’ Company — the City of London livery company and charity for the furnishing industry — the Manufacturing Guild Mark has recognised Britain’s top furnishing manufacturers since its introduction in 1993. The accolade is awarded to companies that demonstrate consistently high standards across all aspects of their business, including manufacturing, design, product quality, marketing, financial management, commitment to training, employment practices, and sustainability.

Audits are carried out independently by FIRA International on behalf of The Furniture Makers’ Company, with successful companies re-audited every three years to ensure standards are continuously maintained. The Manufacturing Guild Mark is open only to businesses that manufacture most of their products in the UK, spanning upholstered and cabinet furniture, kitchens, office furniture, and both contemporary and traditional styles. Unlike other Guild Marks, it recognises the performance of the company rather than a specific product or range.

Prior to co-founding Wolf Components, Anthony held senior leadership roles at global bed industry businesses Steinhoff and Leggett & Platt.

As chairman of the Manufacturing Guild Mark, Anthony will support the continued promotion of British manufacturing excellence and help uphold the rigorous standards that underpin the award. Current holders of the Manufacturing Guild Mark include Bensons for Beds, Dreams, HSL, Howdens, Hypnos and Wren Kitchens.

“It’s an honour to be appointed chairman of the Manufacturing Guild Mark," comments Anthony. "British manufacturing has so much to be proud of, and the Guild Mark plays a vital role in recognising the businesses that consistently invest in quality, people, and long-term sustainability. At Wolf Components, we’ve always believed in manufacturing in the UK and continually raising standards, so I’m proud to support an award that celebrates excellence across the entire furnishing industry.”
