UTIS AMF has supplied three machines to Divario GmbH’s new factory in Ukraine – the 1050mm wide thicknesser, a 500mm wide surface planer and a three-axis-controlled spindle moulder.
The Divario factory has been set up in the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine to manufacture two sizes of timber houses of a Swiss design. From August 2024, the modules will also be built in the Kherson region.
The largest house design is 35m2 complete with fully insulated walls and roof, windows and doors and is fully kitted out so the family can move into their new home immediately.
The timber houses are very often installed in the garden next to the families’ destroyed houses.
The first house was made in the Swiss factory of Uffer AG by the Ukrainian workforce where they were trained on all aspects of the manufacturing process.
A production hall with an indoor crane was dismantled in Switzerland and shipped to Ukraine for the new factory.
Martin Huber of Huber Fenster AG the manager of the Ukrainian project has said that in the winter of 2022, 25 families were able to move into their new houses, and in November 2023, 99 families were able to live in a house on their land again. Martin Huber and his wife work for the organisation free of charge, every donation goes entirely towards the material and the Ukrainian labour hours to produce the living modules.
With the new factory, their goal is to build and hand over at least 130 houses by the end of 2024.
