Trucksmith, the renowned vehicle body builder, is rightly well known for its highly successful range of 3.5 tonne low-floored Luton vans.
2014 marks the 21st year of the low-floored Luton range by Trucksmith and this wealth of experience, combined with its diverse customer base, means that Trucksmith is ideally positioned to advise on what clients should be looking for in a new 3.5 tonne purchase.
Firstly, Trucksmith points to the cost burden of running any sort of transport – fuel economy. The full range of Trucksmith low-floored Lutons benefit from impressive aerodynamic design and a low centre of gravity producing an independently tested fuel economy figure of 27.8mpg, fully laden.
Secondly, the payload. Trucksmith has produced a range of bodies to suit all needs – from the 4.1SR with 18.5m3 volume and 1254kg (including driver and fuel allowance) payload, all the way up to the capacious 4.5HR with 23.5m3 volume and 1064kg (including driver and fuel allowance) payload.
Thirdly, Trucksmith says European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EWVTA) is a key consideration. Since April 2013, every new N1 vehicle that is built for use within Europe requires that a type approval certificate be registered. These are rules which ensure that each vehicle is built to conform to a strict set of guidelines.
Trucksmith is a leader in this regard and successfully achieved EWVTA for its complete standard product range of LoLoader, KneeHi and Canniloader options from 3.8m to 5m length bodies, a full six months ahead of schedule.
