The 52nd Teesside Golf Day, organised by independent furniture retailer Barker and Stonehouse, has set a new fundraising record, raising an outstanding £23,000 for The Furniture Makers' Company.
The annual event, which was established in 1974 by Richard Barker, took place on Wednesday 12th August 2026 at Catterick Garrison Golf Club in North Yorkshire. More than 80 players from across the UK furniture and furnishings industry came together for a day of golf, networking and fundraising, braving temperatures of 29°C.
The day began with a welcome lunch before players headed onto the course for a shotgun start. Despite the challenging heat, competition was fierce, with participants battling it out for the coveted trophies. The event concluded with an evening of dinner, prize-giving, a raffle and a charity auction, helping to secure another record-breaking fundraising total.
The £23,000 raised marks another milestone for the long-running event, which has become a firm fixture in the furnishing industry’s calendar. The funds will support The Furniture Makers’ Company’s charitable work, providing vital welfare assistance to people working in, or who have previously worked in, the furnishing industry.
