Surge in demand for timber at FIT Show 2021

The UK’s leading trade show for the window and door industry is appealing for manufacturers and suppliers of timber home improvement products to exhibit at its September event.

Taking place at the NEC from 26-28th September this year, FIT Show attracts an audience of 10,000 visitors made up of installers, builders, local authorities, fabricators and specifiers  all looking to find the latest products and innovations.

FIT Show’s September 2021 showcase is receiving record levels of interest from exhibitors, in direct correlation with the surge in demand that installers have received from homeowners throughout the pandemic. With the UK population spending more time than ever in their homes during lockdown, homeowners have been redirected savings, such as holiday funds, into making improvements around the home. This has resulted in the unprecedented volume of enquiries, and a huge appetite for new and innovative products.

There has been a surge in demand from homeowners specifically seeking sustainable home improvement solutions. From traditional timber windows, internal doors and balustrades through to complementary outdoor timber products such as decking, fencing, garden rooms and office spaces. This, coupled with the fact that there has not been a dedicated trade show for this sector since the last FIT Show outing in 2019, all point to a very successful event later this year.

At FIT Show 2019, over 1500 of the 10,000 visitors came to the show specifically seeking timber products. This figure is expected to increase significantly for FIT Show 2021 with the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and THE Wood Window Alliance (WWA) both set to have a presence at the event. Timber brands such as Hormann, who will showcase timber doorsets, Internorm, Metsa Wood UK and Solidcor are just some of the brands set to join the FIT Show 21 timber-lineup.

Speaking about the growth of timber at FIT Show, event director Nickie West (pictured above) said: “After an extended period of restricted face-to-face business, and with no industry platform since 2019, we are more excited about our next event than ever. We understand that world events over the last 12-18 months have proven extremely challenging, but have been encouraged by the positive impact that this has had on the UK home improvement sector.

“Demand for timber and other sustainable products in the home continues to grow and we are committed to ensuring that this is sufficiently reflected at FIT Show 2021. We are working closely with the key timber trade bodies and associations, and are working hard to connect manufacturers and suppliers of these products with our FIT Show audience when we return in September. I’d urge any timber brands who are looking to connect with the installer market to get in touch.”

FIT Show exhibitors will be supported with a whole host of new features in September. This will include a brand new Timber Trail in conjunction with Wood Window Alliance and its members. Brands are also invited to showcase brand new products as part of FIT Show’s New Products Trail designed to take visitors straight to the products that are most relevant to them, such as balustrades and internal doors.

Alongside the unprecedented surge in demand from homeowners for home improvements in general, outdoor living enhancements have seen a massive 64% increase in demand. To reflect this, FIT Show organisers have developed a brand new Outdoor Living feature which will showcase everything from sun rooms and garden rooms through to conservatories and canopies, decking and fencing, awnings, gates and other associated outdoor home improvement products.

The new Outdoor Living feature will be clearly marketed to all FIT Show visitors both pre and during the show. This will include a new, dedicated Outdoor Living trail, sponsored by the Belgian trendsetter in ventilation, blinds, terrace roofs and wall covering; Renson.

Evan Francis, Renson UK marketing and communications manager said: “FIT Show connects us with all the right people in one place. It’s the place to be for both us as a brand, and for our industry. We will be utilising FIT Show 2021 as a platform to present not only our ventilation and sun protection solutions, but also our outdoor living solutions. Visitors can expect to see how we create healthy spaces through our range of innovative solutions. The timing couldn’t be better.”

FIT Show has evolved since its 2013 inception and has broadened its proposition to become much more than a windows and doors event. Alongside the show’s core UPVC, aluminium, timber, machinery and hardware lineup, organisers have introduced Visit Glass; a dedicated show-within-a-show with flat glass and processing machinery on display. This has helped to broaden the appeal of FIT Show and put it on the radar of new audiences such as architects, specifiers and the fit out sector.

If you are a manufacturer or supplier of timber products for the home, FIT Show is the most cost effective platform to connect with trade customers en masse. According to statistics from the Association of Exhibition Organisers, it costs 22% less to contact a potential buyer at a show than through traditional marketing channels. Over 90% of trade show attendees plan to purchase in the next 12-15 months of visiting a show and 86% of exhibition attendees have not been seen before by your sales force.

FIT Show walk on stand packages are available from just £3000 and there is still time for brands to sign up to exhibit.Enquire about exhibiting today.
