Designer/maker students heard industry experts talk about their careers in the furniture sector on Wednesday, 13th November at the Peninsular Arts Centre, Plymouth.
The event was designed to inspire architecture and design students about a future career in the furniture industry. The speakers were John Makepeace OBE, Richard Miller of Halstock Furniture, and James Morley of James Morley Furniture.
Initiated by The Furniture Makers’ Company, organiser Pauline Purvis said "The event was a resounding success attracting over a hundred people into the auditorium. Everyone commented how the unusual mix of speakers made it a really interesting evening.
These seminars offer a unique opportunity to hear from successful people in the industry, partake in a Q&A session and meet with other people currently working within the furniture industry.
John Makepeace commented: “My passion is to create masterpieces that enrich people's lives and the language of furniture.”
