Sponsored by PWS, The Military WAGS Choir CD has raised over £5000 for Help For Heroes. Mark Stephenson, chief executive at PWS, is a trustee of the WAGS Choir and supported the recording of the ‘Harmonies for Heroes’ CD in aid of Help For Heroes. The project was jointly led by Carol Gedye, WAGS’ musical director, and Jill Lundberg, press officer at PWS.
Over 500 CDs have already been sold and proceeds from the sales, coupled with money raised from an earlier concert, are to boost an appeal to raise £100,000 for a performing arts centre at Phoenix House, the Help For Heroes Recovery Centre in Catterick, North Yorkshire.
The Harmonies for Heroes CD, is available online from www.militarywagschoir.co.uk/Dancingwithyou or £6 plus postage, while one of the songs, Dancing With You, can be downloaded from https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/dancing-with-you-single/id833518486 for 79p. Profits from all sales go the Help For Heroes appeal.
A youtube video www.youtube.com/watch?v=v__9OwjldOc tells the story of how the Harmonies for Heroes project came about, featuring footage of Phoenix House Recovery Centre, the WAGS, plus interviews with some of those involved in the project.
PWS are proud supporters of Help For Heroes, having donated four self-help kitchens to the Recovery Centre at Catterick and a further 3 kitchens to the Endeavour Recovery Centre in Plymouth. PWS also deliver ongoing support in the form of vocational training visits for residents.
