Montana Furniture, the Danish design and manufacturing house known for its iconic modular Montana System, has acquired fellow Danish design brand TAKT.

The acquisition brings TAKT’s distinctive solid wood furniture to Montana Furniture's range, adding a complementary material expression to its existing universe of colour, modularity and craftsmanship.

TAKT will continue within Montana Furniture’s portfolio under the collection name TAKT by Montana, carrying forward its products, design heritage and collaborations with its designers, including the Cross series by British design duo Pearson Lloyd and the Turn Chair by Lysemose & montanafurniture.com de Gier.

TAKT's employees will, as far as possible, be integrated into Montana Furniture's organisation, while its showroom will become part of Montana Furniture's showroom in central Copenhagen. Going forward, the collection will be sold through Montana Furniture's global network of retail and contract dealers.

"Our mission is to create the framework for interiors where people can express their personality through colour and furniture," comments Joakim Lassen, CEO of Montana Furniture. "But few of us live with colour alone – we also surround ourselves with wood, stone and other tactile materials. With the acquisition of TAKT, we are adding a materiality to our range that completes our universe."

Montana Furniture is known for the Montana System, whose modular design and extensive colour palette allow for personalised, functional spaces for private homes as well as public and commercial interiors. In recent years, the range has expanded to include tables and chairs, and in 2025 Paradigm – formerly known as the Paustian sofa – added a softer dimension to the collection. The acquisition of TAKT now introduces a complementary range of solid wood furniture.

TAKT has an approach to materials and the environment, which Montana Furniture intends to draw on as it continues its own work with the EU Ecolabel on selected series such as the Montana System, its annual environmental report, PEFC certification (PEFC/09-31-169) of the Montana System among others, and its recent switch from polystyrene to moulded paper pulp in some packaging. Joakim Lassen adds: ”TAKT brings experience with materials and the environment, and we are looking forward to bringing our respective experience together and taking this work even further.”

Henrik Lorensen, founder of TAKT and chairman of its board, says: "The past few years have been an exciting and instructive journey for TAKT. We have built a brand where materials and the environment have been central, and we have collaborated with a number of talented and celebrated designers. Now it is time for TAKT's next chapter, and we are delighted that it will be written together with Montana Furniture."

Following the acquisition, Henrik Lorensen will also join Montana Furniture's board, where he will help maintain a close connection to TAKT's thinking and values, while bringing his perspective on sustainability to Montana Furniture’s ongoing work. The acquisition brings together two Danish design brands with complementary strengths and a shared commitment to considered design.
