Industry talent recognised at CAD+T

This year, over 40 participants from around Europe arrived at CAD+T’s headquarters in Austria to take part in the software specialist’s 2024 Talent Camp. Now in its sixth year, the competition has grown to attract the very best school leavers and apprentices aged 16-28, keen to take part in the prestigious CAD+T Challenge and be in with the chance of winning an international apprenticeship at CAD+T, as well as additional prizes worth £2,000.

The five-day competition, which aims to challenge ambitious students and put their skills to the test, featured a number of practical workshops run by some of the industry’s very best project managers in planning, photorealistic visualisation and engineering. Plus, introductory training on the very latest CAD+T software to help them complete their very own design project.

To complete their designs, students were able to use CAD+T’s Design Classic planning module, Engineer Classic (AutoCAD® based) software and CAD+T’s Visualize Professional Renderer, which offers the ideal introduction to the world of high end photorealistic visualisation. This, teamed with their existing AutoCAD®knowledge, allowed them to present their most innovative design concepts to a panel of industry experts.

Martina Schwarz, CEO of CAD+T says, “We all know how real the skills and labour shortage is in our industry and, as a leading company in our field, we feel a responsibility to nurture young talent and do our part to encourage people with an interest in furniture design and manufacturing to join our industry. This event has the possibility to open a lot of doors for someone who is interested in a career in this field.

"Previous winners have continued to work with us after completing their apprenticeship, whilst others have secured jobs in other areas of the furniture industry. I believe the CAD+T Talent Camp has and will continue to play an important role in our industry’s future.”

Martina continues, “A huge thank you must also go to our generous event sponsors - Weissengruber Möbelproduktion, SCM Group, Hettich Group, Grass®, Blum®, Barbaric GmbH, Paul OTT GmbH, Ansfelden municipality and JAF International Services Gesellschaft m.b.H - for their support and we look forward to welcoming more talented young people to our Head Quarters in 2025 for our next Talent Camp.”
