HOMAG opens new €50m site in Poland

The Dürr subsidiary, HOMAG, officially opened its new site in Środa Wielkopolska, Poland, this month. The global market leader in woodworking technology is thereby increasing the efficiency of its international production network and laying a strong foundation for future profitable growth.

The high-performance production and engineering site, with around 650 employees, brings all HOMAG Polska activities together under one roof, enabling more efficient processes in production, logistics, service, and administration. A modern competence centre with a showroom for customers from the wood and furniture industries has also been established. With an investment volume of more than €50 million, the new facility is one of the largest investment projects in HOMAG’s history.

The construction of the new plant began in October 2024 with the aim of consolidating HOMAG Polska’s activities, previously spread across several buildings in the surrounding area, at a single location. The building complex, covering more than 50,000 square meters, comprises a production hall, an automated high-bay warehouse, an office building, and the customer centre.

There, HOMAG presents innovative machines with the highest levels of automation and digitalisation and offers excellently equipped facilities for training and advising customers from across Eastern Europe. The around 650 employees of HOMAG Polska benefit from a modern working environment. The office complex was built using wood as a sustainable construction material. Photovoltaics, heat recovery, and an advanced building management system ensure energy efficiency and reduce operating costs and emissions.

“HOMAG stands for technological expertise, innovative strength, quality, and customer focus," says Dr. Jochen Weyrauch, CEO of Dürr AG. "The new plant embodies all of these qualities and will make a significant contribution to the success of HOMAG and Dürr. With the new plant, HOMAG is increasing its efficiency and competitiveness.”

HOMAG CEO Dr. Daniel Schmitt, who is also a member of the Board of Management of Dürr AG added: “Poland plays a central role in the European wood and furniture industry. For HOMAG, the country is not only an important sales market with innovative customers, but also a key production and engineering location thanks to its highly qualified specialists. The new plant will make a substantial contribution to HOMAG’s product development and to the efficiency of our international production network.”

The official opening of the new plant also marks HOMAG Polska’s 25th anniversary. Around 300 guests and employees came together yesterday evening to celebrate both occasions.
