The race is on for furnishing industry businesses to assemble their strongest teams and compete for tug of war glory at The Furniture Makers’ Company’s Midlands Region Tug of War Tournament & Family Fun Day later this month.
Taking place on Saturday 27 June 2026 from 12:00pm at Long Eaton Rugby Club, Derbyshire, the second annual event promises another fantastic day of friendly competition, networking and fundraising for the furnishing industry charity.
Open to everyone across the trade, the tournament will once again feature male, female and mixed team categories, with teams of eight invited to compete for tug of war glory. Whether taking part in the action or supporting from the sidelines, attendees will enjoy a fun and welcoming atmosphere while connecting with colleagues and friends from across the industry.
In addition to the tournament, the Family Fun Day will include children’s activities, games, food and drinks, plus a raffle packed with exciting prizes. The event aims to bring the industry together while raising vital funds to support people working in the UK furnishing sector.
Gina Thomson, Midlands Region chairman at The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “Following the success of last year’s event, we’re thrilled to bring the Midlands Tug of War Tournament & Family Fun Day back for 2026. It’s a brilliant opportunity for the industry to come together for a day filled with energy, laughter and community spirit, while supporting an important cause. Whether you’re entering a team, bringing the family along or sponsoring the event, we look forward to welcoming everyone for another memorable day.”
