Finsa UK Ltd, a subsidiary of the Spanish company Financiera Maderera S.A. (Finsa), has officially opened its new port facilities and distribution centre at Grandidges Quay, Birkenhead, in the Wirral Waters Freeport.
Developed in a strategic partnership with Peel Ports, the £20 million investment secures the long-term future of the company’s operations in the region.
Spanning 156,000 sq ft, the new facility incorporates a logistics warehouse, a cross-laminated timber (CLT) office building, and the Finsa Home commercial space. The site also features a dedicated dock and a new port crane for direct unloading of vessels.
Having operated in the United Kingdom since 1978 and been based in Merseyside since 1990, Finsa UK generates an annual turnover of approximately £60 million. The company is a key supplier to distributors and manufacturers across the construction and interior design industries.

The opening ceremony gathered more than 80 attendees, including Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region; Alejandro Polanco Mata, Consul General of Spain in Manchester; and Cllr Paula Basnett, Leader of Wirral Council. They were joined by representatives from Finsa's board and management team, Peel Ports, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Wirral Chamber of Commerce, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, as well as key UK business partners and project contractors.
