Finsa back in black with Fibracolour at Toto Gallery

Finsa’s Fibracolour Black is a completely coloured board made of selected wood fibres (MDF). Unlike others in the market, is gives a completely deep black colour finish.

Fibracolour Black offers new solutions to the decoration and interior design industries, as it allows a wide variety of aesthetic effects and innovative finishes, such as lacquers, waxes or transparent varnishes. It can be coated with natural veneer or melamine, so there is a transgressive contrast between the surface and the edges of the product.

Fibracolour is made with non-toxic water-based pigments and has a low formaldehyde concentration (E1 classification). This product guarantees a perfect and safe interaction with the environment, and is an ideal solution for enclosed spaces.

It also guarantees stability, consistency and intensity of colours in compliance with the most strict quality standards – therefore, the board colouring is perfectly uniform. Furthermore, it is resistant to natural and artificial light.

Fibracolour enables the quick and easy repair of surface damage. Scratches and other damages can be corrected by sanding, putting the product back in its original state, without any visible changes in its colour scheme.

Fibracolour is an ideal product for commercial environments, shops and business premises, counters and showcases. It is also suitable for general furniture including flat-pack furniture, home furniture, office furniture and children’s furniture.

Fibracolour can be used for interior design as well as panelling, screens and cladding.  The product is also suitable for picture or mirror frames, and in the manufacture of logos and texts with 3D- or bas-relief-effects. Furthermore, it has been used in ephemeral architecture, stands and exhibitions.

Finsa UK recently supported a paramodern architecture exhibition, supplying Japanese architect Endo Shuhei with 10 sheets of Fibracolour Black for use in a display of his work at the Toto Gallery in London.

The exhibition took place from the 24th June to the 14th July, and presented 25 iconic models from Shuhei’s 25 years of architectural practice. Part of the London Festival of Architecture, it had previously been shown in Milan, Stuttgart and Paris.

Endo Shuhei used Fibracolour Black to create base stands, upon which he placed his designs, resulting in free-standing tables covering the exhibition room. The black of the boards produced a minimalist but effective finish, combining well with the lighting which helped to create atmosphere within the space.

Speaking highly of Finsa Fibracolour, Endo commented that he liked the matt texture finish of the boards. He also stated that a major advantage of Fibracolour is that no stains from glasses or drinks are left on the surface when placed upon it. The exhibition was a success, and Endo now believes that there is a variety of possibilities for the product to be marketed in Japan.
