DAMS set for expansion with edgebander investment

DAMS, the office furniture manufacturer and wholesaler, is preparing for further growth this year with the addition of a new double-sided edgebander machine at its Merseyside manufacturing plant.

The new equipment is part of DAMS’ continuous investment programme which aims to ensure that the company is able to increase its production capacity and efficiency as it builds on its market share.

DAMS’ latest machine adds to the two existing double-sided edge banders already used to finish desks and storage solutions at DAMS’ furniture factory. The investment follows a string of moves to support the company’s ongoing expansion, including new upholstery and recycling facilities that came on line last year.

Comments managing director of DAMS, Chris Scott: “DAMS has built an enviable reputation in the office furniture sector by manufacturing high quality items at an affordable price with the service, quality control and supply chain benefits that come with working with a UK manufacturer.

“As a result, our customer base is growing and this investment in new equipment will ensure that our manufacturing capacity keeps pace with that growth while ensuring that we manage operational costs by avoiding the need to outsource any of our processes.”

The new double-sided edge bander is even faster and more efficient that DAMS’ existing machines and features a pre-adhesive spray function that prevents any glue from adhering to surfaces other than the desk edges.

Chris adds: “We are not simply investing in more equipment but are constantly looking for ways in which we can improve our processes.  In that way, we can increase efficiency, improve capacity: benefits that we can pass on to our customers.”
