Established woodworking machine operator training providers Daltons Wadkin has opened a new and enlarged training area at its Nottingham headquarters in order to provide comprehensive and certificated in-house training to woodworking machine operatives as an option to carrying out training on site, such as at customers’ own workshops.
As a PIABC approved training centre, the company continues to offer on-site training in all parts of the UK and Ireland, but the new workshop and classroom in Nottingham will provide an alternative venue should this be preferred, whilst at the same time enabling the company to offer specific courses relative to individual machine types.
Daltons Wadkin now has three full time trainers who cover the country providing health and safety advice and operating instruction to customers as diverse as one or two-man joinery or cabinet shops, colleges, public authorities, plcs and Government departments. Training courses are tailored to individual needs, catering for both novice and experienced learners as well as supervisors.
The new facility in Nottingham is equipped with machines for rip sawing, cross cutting, horizontal and vertical panel cutting, planing and thicknessing, bandsawing, mortising, spindle moulding and tenoning. The area is fully equipped with dust extraction, work benches and grinding facility for abrasive wheel course.
There is a dedicated classroom area and the company offer a full set of training manuals covering each machine type which can be purchased and then retained by the trainee as a permanent record.
All this is part of a continued expansion of training which now forms a significant and increasing part of Daltons Wadkin’s activities in the woodworking sector.
