After an incredible 49-year career, John Stanley is retiring from his role as Sales Director at JJ Smith. His journey began in 1976, training in the tooling and spare parts departments to gain expertise in machinery for the joinery and furniture industries. A year later, he became Sales Manager and, following extensive training in Italy, John played a pivotal role in driving sales, helping JJ Smith expand its product range and significantly increase turnover.
In 1986, John was promoted to Sales Director, overseeing the buying and selling of used machinery. His role took him across the globe, from Australia to Russia, where in the early ‘90s he secured the company’s largest-ever order at the time - a complete furniture factory installation in Syktyvkar, Russia.
As he embarks on a well-earned retirement, John looks forward to travelling, dog walks, and passionately supporting his football team.
