Callerton appoints Dean Robinson as Director of Sales

British kitchen furniture manufacturer, Callerton, has appointed Dean Robinson as Director of Sales, strengthening its senior team with first-hand independent retail experience.

Dean joins Callerton with more than 20 years’ experience in the KBB sector, spanning kitchen design, showroom leadership and senior commercial management. Most recently, he was Managing Director at Four Seasons Kitchens in Leeds, a long-established luxury kitchen retailer.

The appointment comes at a time when independent retailers increasingly need more from their manufacturer partners than traditional sales representation. With product ranges becoming broader, projects more technical and clients more demanding, Callerton says its focus is on giving retailers access to senior support that understands design, specification, installation, service and the commercial pressures of running a showroom.

Based in Sunderland, Callerton has manufactured kitchen and bedroom furniture for more than 40 years and works through a network of independent retailers across the UK. The business was named KBSA Supplier of the Year 2025, recognition it says reflects its continued focus on partnership, service and support for the independent retail sector.

In his new role, Dean will work closely with Callerton’s retailer network to strengthen day-to-day communication, support product confidence, improve specification accuracy and ensure feedback from the showroom floor is translated into practical improvements across sales, operations and manufacturing.

“Callerton has always stood out to me as a business that genuinely understands the independent retailer," says Dean Robinson. "Having worked with the product as a retailer myself, I knew first-hand the quality of what they make and the values behind the brand.

“Joining as Director of Sales felt like the natural next step. It gives me the opportunity to take everything I’ve learned across two decades in this industry and apply it in a role where I can make a real difference for the retailers we work with.

“For me, great retailer support is not just about being available when there is a problem. It is about understanding each retailer’s market, the way they work and the pressures they face every day. Independent studios need clear communication, technical confidence and a manufacturer that is willing to listen properly and respond quickly. That is where I believe Callerton can continue to stand apart.”

Ali Zair, Relationships and Growth Director at Callerton, said: “Dean’s appointment is hugely exciting for us because he genuinely bridges the gap between manufacturer and retailer. He understands the pressures of the showroom floor, but also has the technical and operational knowledge to help shape meaningful improvements inside the business.

“Combined with his ambition for the industry, his energy for independent retail and his belief in what British manufacturing can achieve, we feel there is an exceptional alignment between Dean and Callerton.”

Callerton says the appointment forms part of a controlled growth strategy, with a focus on deepening existing partnerships, adding the right new retailers and continuing to raise the standard of service and support across its independent network.

Zair added: “Growth only works if it strengthens the experience for our retailers. Dean’s role is not simply about new account acquisition. It is about making sure our partners feel supported, heard and confident when specifying Callerton. We are proud of the standards that led to our KBSA Supplier of the Year recognition, but the aim now is to keep improving them.”
