Last month, CAD/CAM and ERP specialist, CAD+T ran its first-ever UK-based customer event at Nick Hudson Fine Furniture in London. Visitors to the sell-out event got an exclusive, first-hand account of how the high-end, bespoke furniture manufacturer has integrated digital software solutions and CNC technology into its traditional woodworking business with the help of CAD+T. The result: simplified design processes, streamlined production and a new business model designed to stand the test of time.
“Nick Hudson is our oldest customer in the UK,” begins Florian Wonisch, CAD+T’s UK sales representative. “We have a great relationship with Nick and his team and we’ve got to know his business very well over the years. That’s why, when the idea to hold an interactive event in the UK was first conceived, we thought Nick would be a great fit. We wanted to showcase a successful company that had gone on a journey with us and who had ultimately changed the structure of their business to increase production and increase turnover.”
Not only could visitors see Nick’s software in action in both the design suite and on the shop floor, but they were also able to explore CAD+T’s wider range of fully-customisable solutions, whilst talking to the experts.

“It might seem funny allowing other woodworking companies into your workshop to show them what you do and how you do it but we wanted to sing the praises of our software and our CNC machine because they both do so much for us,” explains Nick Hudson, owner of Nick Hudson Fine Furniture.
“Over the years, we’ve gone from using a very basic AutoCAD 2D system – with lines and rectangles representing the finished object – to a fully customised software solution that works seamlessly to our Masterwood CNC thanks to a customised CAM interface. It’s streamlined our entire business and made the whole process quicker and much more user-friendly. Everything about the software has been designed for convenience. Integrating CAD+T into our production has been a game changer and I’m happy to share my experiences with anyone who cares to listen.”
Visitors at the one-day event were equally as impressed with CAD+T’s innovate software solutions, which has been praised with improving the company’s efficiencies across the board.

Daniel, a Production Manager from Worthing said: “We came to look at how Nick Hudson Joinery integrated CAD+T software into their company - from the designing of furniture through to their machining. We want to fully integrate CAD+T software into our production and be able to nest materials much more quickly and efficiently. This was a great way for the company to present exactly how this can be done. It was well worth a visit.”
Dawid, a start-up business owner adds: “We are at the very start of our journey to become furniture manufacturers and at this point, we want to explore every opportunity open to us. This event has been great because we’ve found out how all the elements of the company work together to create the end product. We can definitely see benefits to working with CAD+T.”
