Bumper National Golf Day raises £8500 for industry charity

Furniture industry colleagues from around the UK descended upon Warwickshire last month for The Furniture Makers’ Company’s longest running charity event, the National Golf Day, which raised £8,500.

Almost 100 golfers took part in the tournament at the Warwickshire Golf & Country Club on Thursday 27 September, making it the most well attended National Golf Day in recent years.

The day started with bacon rolls and coffee which was then followed by an 18 hole Stableford competition on the Warwickshire’s championship Kings Course, situated in the middle of 465 flowing acres of picturesque scenery.

The competition was followed by a lunch and then a raffle, auction and prize giving. Jonathan Rowe of Bisley won ‘Best Individual’ and a team comprised of members of The Furniture Makers’ Company putted their way to ‘Best Team’.

The Furniture Makers’ Company is very grateful for the companies that sponsored the event: The 3dPartneship, Alstons, Baker Furniture, Bisley, Classic Furniture, G Plan Upholstery, Harrison Spinks, Himolla Polstermoebel GmbH, HIPPO, HTL (UK), Mammoth, N E J Stevenson, Parker Knoll, Savoir Beds, Sealy, Steinhoff, Swan Retail and Tempur.

The Company would also like to thank the auction prize sponsors: Global Furniture Alliance, Graham Marley, Mammoth Beds, Peter Mallinson, Silentnight Beds and Sofa House.

Hayden Davies, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company says: “The National Golf Day is always a fantastic event and we were very pleased that 2018 had the highest turnout in recent years. A very well done to all the winners. I’d also like to thank Peter Mallinson for his much appreciated support in organising the event and making it a huge success.”

Peter Mallinson, merchandise director (home) at AIS, organiser of the event, says: “It is extremely rewarding to witness the resurgence of the National Golf Day. The support from retailers, manufacturers, importers and wholesalers across the board was excellent and we raised a considerable sum of money. This year’s venue in Warwickshire was well received by a record number of golfers and everyone is looking forward to next year’s event.”

Next year’s National Golf Day will be on Thursday 26 September 2019 at the Warwickshire Golf Club.
