Biesse's February wokshops look at edgebanding applications

Zero Glue Line technologies, like most new processes, are generally surrounded by mystique. So Biesse decided it would be good to remove that mystery and bring together industry experts in tape, glue, board and of course machines, to provide an understanding of how a perfect edge is achieved.

Biesse has teamed up with Rehau, Henkel and Decorative Panels  to help them remove the mystery and will be running a series of free, half-day workshops on Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th February at the company’s Daventry Tech Centre.

Visitors will have the opportunity to test drive edgebanders equipped to process and apply edges in both conventonal tape, with PUR glue and functonal layer edge tape without any glue.

See perfect gloss panels edged on all four sides, matt panels with a look of painted finish, seamless edged worktops, carcass panels without a black glue-line and more.

Rehau offers an optimum solution in terms of design, function and processing from conventional edgeband with primer to 100% polymer functional layer. No glue line, no problem.

Rehau is one of the worlds pre-eminent polymer experts, and visitors can learn all there is to know about Raukantex edgebanding and the different  options for processing.

In particular, Rehau technicians will be on hand to answer all your questions about Raukantex pro, the edgeband with a 100% polymer functional layer which is suitable for all zero joint processing technologies.

Additionally, there will be information about the extensive Rehau Express Collection.

Consisting of over 1200 colours and decorative designs, and a choice 8000 variants to define dimension, laquer and embossing, the stock program is available at short notice in small quantities.

For bespoke requirements, small production volumes are available from the non-standard range.

Henkel is one of the world’s top adhesive firms and its Technomelt PUR for edgebanding is widely recognised as a proven performer. More and more furniture manufacturers are already benefiting from the use of PUR hot melt adhesives. At Biesse’s workshop visitors can learn more about how to combine outstanding edge design with long-lasting bond security.

Henkel says the key features of its Technomelt product are: unmatched moisture resistance; the highest heat resistance, up to 150°C; ultimate bond strength on all common edge materials; low application weight for very thin glue line and clean running for ready-to-sell surfaces.

Importantly, a buffet lunch will be served at all sessions making this a very useful and ejoyable way to unravel the options and opportunities of modern edging techniques and technologies. Visitors considering attending will need to register.
