W event bought by Montgomery

Exhibition experts Montgomery has acquired the W exhibition and will be incorporating it into the its portfolio of events from January 2015. W is the UK’s leading joinery and furniture manufacturing show.

In a statement, Montgomery managing director, Damion Angus, comments: “We are very excited about our involvement in this event and really look forward to working with the show exhibitors and the industry as a whole to take it forward in 2016. We will also be working very closely with John Smith-Bodden of Huddlestone Events to ensure a smooth transition and John will continue to be involved on a consultancy and advisory basis”.

John Smith-Bodden, managing director of Huddlestone said “This is terrific news for the show. It is clear from the huge success of W14 that the industry has a strong appetite for the development of its UK exhibition. Montgomery is superbly placed to drive that growth. Its combination of impressive resource and experienced understanding of the sector opens new and exciting possibilities for the W show series”.

Montgomery originally launched the event as the International Woodworking Exhibition in 1973 to run alongside Interbuild. W is now one of the UK’s largest trade exhibitions, covering 20,000 sq m at the NEC in Birmingham. All of the leading companies in the sector attend the show, which is held on a biennial basis over four days.

For furniture and joinery manufacturers of all types the show provides a unique opportunity to see running machinery, materials and components. Suppliers to those manufacturers enjoy a perfect high profile opportunity to show their latest products to an industry which constantly searches for differentiated product and production capability.

Sandy Angus, chairman of Montgomery, comments: “I am delighted that W has come back into the fold. I launched the exhibition in 1973 and have watched its development carefully over the years. We are confident that our extensive knowledge of the woodworking industries sector and the long-term view we take as a business will allow us to nurture the event to the benefit of the industry as a whole”.

The next edition of W will run at the NEC from the 2-5th October 2016.
