Industry raises funds for MND charity

Behind the business taking place at the W14 exhibition, a number of exhibitors were digging deep to donate money to the L6ve Life Foundation, a charity set up by Lee Newton.

Between them, the following businesses have pledged a total of nearly £5000 to the cause: Kleiberit; GNC Services; Proadec UK; Charvo; Homag UK; Biesse Group UK; Gislaved Foil; David Clouting; Surteco UK; IMA UK; MPS Machines; and SCM.

Lee, who is still actively working in the industry at Summerbridge Doors, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) last year. Whilst there is no cure, Lee decided to set up the L6ve Life Foundation to help find one, and has since worked hard to raise awareness about the condition and funds for research.

In particular, Lee’s L6ve Life T-shirts have been invaluable in harnessing celebrity support from the likes of Stan Collymore, Eamonn Holmes and others, as well as generating awareness through social media.
MND is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. “The L6ve Life Foundation has been set up to provide funds for those who, every day, fight to find a cure and help those already living with MND,” explains Lee.

Having co-ordinated the fundraising drive at W14, Liam Whelan of MPS Machines is running the Leicester half marathon on 26th October in aid of the charity. Find out more about the activities that have taken place so far at the L6ve Life Foundation website.
