Norbord’s Use Wood Wisely Owls encouraged attendees of the Biomass Awards at London’s Gibson Hall to Get Wood Wise last month.
The event was organised to highlight the campaign to enshrine the hierarchy of wood in law. Currently, 1.8m tonnes of British-grown wood is being burnt by power generators every year instead of being used for building materials and furniture making, which ensures that the CO2 stays locked in for decades.
Campaigners believe wood should only be incinerated at the end of its useful life.
