Airsprung Group PLC and Airsprung Furniture Limited have entered administration, with Edward Williams and Ross Connock of PwC appointed as joint administrators on 1st May 2026.
Headquartered in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, Airsprung manufactures mattresses and beds sold via its Trowbridge shop, online, or manufactured for and distributed by other retailers. The business operates from two manufacturing facilities in the town.
According to PwC, the companies have faced challenging trading conditions in recent years, alongside mounting cashflow pressures in recent months. Efforts to secure investment and explore offers for the business were undertaken prior to the appointment of administrators, but directors ultimately concluded there was no alternative but to place the company into administration.
A total of 71 employees were made redundant immediately following the appointment, with 131 staff retained to support ongoing trading operations while the administrators assess options for the business. PwC said affected employees would be supported in making claims through the Redundancy Payments Service.
The joint administrators said their immediate strategy is to continue trading the business while discussions take place with customers regarding outstanding orders, alongside an accelerated process to explore interest in the business and its assets.
Edward Williams, joint administrator and partner at PwC, said: “It’s very sad that this well-known business with 150 years of history and iconic brands within the mattress and bed industry has had to go into administration, resulting in 71 job losses at this time. We know that this is an unsettling time for everyone impacted and we will support employees through the redundancy process.
“The administrators will be engaging with customers and exploring any interest in the business and its assets on an accelerated basis over the coming weeks and would encourage any parties to contact ourselves.”
Tean Dallaway, CEO and director of Airsprung, added: “I would like to sincerely thank our customers and suppliers for their support over many years, and most importantly our employees for their dedication, professionalism, and hard work. Their commitment has been central to the business, and it is very sad and disappointing that the business has entered administration.”
