Our annual sustainability supplement is a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the wide-ranging sustainable practices, materials, initiatives, and products emerging across the industry.
It’s a subject that can feel overwhelming, with a great deal of surrounding ‘noise’ that doesn’t always help the cause. In reality, a proportion of global names have developed impressive and advanced sustainability programmes, but for the majority, it’s a journey that is slowly but surely gaining in momentum and substance.
In this supplement, you’ll hear from industry bodies that offer a wealth of resources to help companies navigate this landscape in practical and accessible ways. John Hubbard of FIRA, for instance, speaks to the valuable guidance and services the organisation offers, including details of The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP), which it helps to deliver.
Adrian Wright, Fibre Laser Specialist at Daltons Wadkin, explores the pressing issue of energy effi ciency in manufacturing (page 16), while Aimee Fletcher, Product and Design Manager UK & Ireland at EGGER, explores evolving furniture production trends and the growing importance of sustainability for both customers and manufacturers (page 18).
In our profiles section, we feature a number of businesses embracing sustainable approaches through circular design principles, waste management, responsible material sourcing, and more. Our products section, meanwhile, offers a glimpse into innovation in action – from Organoid®’s CARPE DIEM surface to a marine-grade cork coffee table by Silverlining, in collaboration with Winch Design.
We hope you fi nd this supplement both useful and inspiring. As always, we welcome news and contributions for this annual publication, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to be involved in the 2026 edition!
